al-I'rab al-Mufassal li-Kitab Allah al-Murattal (The Detailed Grammatical Parsing of the Recited Book of God) is a multi-volume contemporary Arabic work on Quranic syntax by Bahjat Abd al-Wahid Salih (d. 1437 AH / 2015–2016 CE), providing a comprehensive grammatical parsing (i'rab) of the entire text of the Quran .

Purpose and Composition

Salih undertook the composition of the work to serve the Arabic language by demonstrating the linguistic aspects and inimitability of the Quran in an accessible, simplified style designed to facilitate understanding for students and researchers . He noted in his introduction that while libraries possessed extensive works of Quranic exegesis (tafsir), writings exclusively dedicated to parsing the syntactic structure of the Quran were comparatively sparse .

The author spent more than five years completing the project . In preparing the syntactic analysis, he relied on classical works of exegesis to determine the intended meaning of each passage prior to parsing, as well as on accessible Arabic grammatical and linguistic references .

Scope and Methodology

The work spans twelve volumes, systematically covering the Quran from Surat al-Fatihah through Surat al-Nas . The text is arranged sequentially according to the standard order of the surahs, parsing every passage verse by verse, word by word, and letter by letter .

Salih adopted a methodology focused specifically on syntactic parsing (i'rab) and clarity of expression, deliberately avoiding extensive treatment of morphology (sarf) and broader exegetical meanings (ma'ani), which he considered adequately covered in other specialized literature .
