al-Ilaj wa al-Ruqa (full title: al-Ilaj wa al-Ruqa bi-ma Saḥḥa ʿan al-Muṣṭafā ﷺ, "Treatment and Incantations According to What Is Authenticated from the Chosen Prophet ﷺ") is a treatise on Islamic healing, Prophetic medicine, and lawful incantations (ruqyah) authored by Khalid ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Juraysi .

Structure and Content

Following an introduction, the work is organized into six core chapters :

  1. Lawful incantations from the Noble Qur'an and the purified Sunnah (Dhikr ruqan mashrūʿah min al-Qurʾān al-Karīm wa-al-Sunnah al-muṭahharah).
  2. Axioms prior to Prophetic treatment (Musallamāt bayna yaday al-ʿilāj al-nabawī).
  3. The three principles of healing (Uṣūl al-shifāʾ al-thalāthah).
  4. Categories of Prophetic treatment using simple natural remedies (Bayān ṣunūf min al-ʿilāj al-nabawī bi-mufradāt al-adwiyah al-ṭabīʿiyyah).
  5. Prophetic guidance in treating spiritual ailments (al-Hady al-nabawī fī ʿilāj al-amrāḍ al-maʿnawiyyah).
  6. Prophetic guidance regarding consideration of the psychological state of patients (al-Hady al-nabawī fī iʿtibār al-ḥāl al-nafsiyyah lil-marḍā).

The book gathers authenticated invocations, Qur'anic passages, and natural therapeutic substances derived from hadith literature. To facilitate practical use, the author also prepared an audio recording containing the incantations and Prophetic treatments described in the text .

Foreword and Scope

The book features a foreword by the Saudi scholar Abdullah ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Jibreen, dated 18 Jumada al-Akhirah 1427 AH . In his review, al-Jibreen noted that the author demonstrated the proper method of treatment using natural remedies mentioned in the Sunnah and addressed both physical and spiritual afflictions—such as sorcery (siḥr) and the evil eye (al-ʿayn)—that conventional medical specialists may struggle to cure, alongside the rulings and etiquette of visiting the sick and supplicating for them based on textual evidence .
