al-Fawaid al-Muntaqat wa al-Gharaib al-Hisan an al-Shuyukh al-Kufiyyin (The Selected Benefits and Fine Rare Traditions from the Kufan Shaykhs) is a hadith compilation selected by the Levantine hadith master Abu Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Ali al-Suri (376/377–441 AH / 986/987–1049/1050 CE) from the transmissions of the Kufan scholar Abu Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Ali ibn al-Hasan ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Alawi (367–445 AH) .

Background and Content

The work belongs to the fawaid (hadith benefits and selections) genre, specifically focusing on rare narrations (gharaib) and chains transmitted from Kufan authorities . Al-Suri compiled the text by choosing select reports (intikhab) preserved in the narrations of his contemporary, the Sharif Abu Abd Allah al-Alawi al-Kufi . The collection includes prophetic traditions along with their chains of transmission, such as narrations traced through Kufan transmitters .

Manuscripts and Publication

The compilation is preserved in a manuscript in the al-Zahiriyyah Library in Damascus . It was edited by Umar Abd al-Salam Tadmuri and published by Dar al-Kitab al-Arabi in Beirut (1407 AH / 1987 CE) . In this printed edition, Tadmuri appended another work by al-Suri titled Fawaid fi Naqd al-Asanid (Benefits in the Criticism of Isnad Chains), edited from a manuscript held at the British Museum .
