al-Fawa'id al-Hisan 'an al-Shuyukh al-Thiqat (Arabic: الفوائد الحسان عن الشيوخ الثقات, lit. 'The Fine Beneficial Reports from Trustworthy Teachers'), also known as Mashyakhat Ibn al-Naqqur, is a collection of hadiths and reports narrated by the Baghdadi hadith transmitter Abu Bakr Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn al-Naqqur al-Bazzaz (d. 565 AH / 1170 CE) .

Scope and Structure

The work comprises prophetic hadiths and historical reports (athar) transmitted by Ibn al-Naqqur from his teachers . The collection was compiled and extracted (takhrij), with critical discussion on its narrations, by the hadith scholar Abu Muhammad Abd al-Aziz ibn Mahmud ibn al-Akhdar .

Because the text is organized according to Ibn al-Naqqur's teachers rather than topical legal chapters, it also functions as a mashyakha (teacher-register compendium) . The entries are arranged under the names of the individual shaykhs without following alphabetical order .

Transmission and Publication

The collection was transmitted from Ibn al-Naqqur by his student, Abu Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Ibrahim ibn Muslim al-Irbili (also recorded as Muhammad ibn Muslim ibn Salman al-Irbili) .

Manuscript copies of the first and second parts survive in al-Asad National Library in Damascus and the Egyptian National Library (Dar al-Kutub al-Misriyya) in Cairo . The first part of the work was edited by Mus'ad Abd al-Hamid al-Sa'dani and published by Adwa' al-Salaf in Riyadh in 1418 AH / 1997 CE, containing 56 numbered narrations .
