al-Ahadith al-Mia al-Mukhraja min al-Sahih al-Musalsala bil-Muhammadin (The One Hundred Hadiths Extracted from the Sahih Chained by Narrators Named Muhammad) is a hadith compilation compiled by the traditionist Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Marwazi (Diya' al-Din Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Khatibi al-Kushmayhani al-Marwazi, d. 578 AH / 1182–1183 CE) .
Background and Purpose
The work was compiled as a specialized hadith collection (juz') extracting traditions found in the Sahih of Imam Muhammad ibn Isma'il al-Bukhari whose transmission chains consist sequentially of narrators named Muhammad (musalsal bil-Muhammadin) . Al-Marwazi noted in his introduction that the compilation was made to seek blessing (tabarruk) through the name of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ . He opened the text with an attributed report from Abd Allah ibn Abbas stating that on the Day of Resurrection, an announcer will call out for whoever bears the name Muhammad to enter Paradise without reckoning, in honor of the Prophet's namesake .
Structure and Transmission
The collection brings together one hundred hadiths along with accompanying additions (ziyadat) drawn from Sahih al-Bukhari . The author's primary chain to al-Bukhari maintains an unbroken sequence of authorities named Muhammad: from his father Abu al-Fath Muhammad, from Abu al-Khayr Muhammad, from Abu al-Haytham Muhammad, from Muhammad ibn Yusuf al-Firabri, from Muhammad ibn Isma'il al-Bukhari, from his teachers such as Muhammad ibn Bashshar, from Muhammad ibn Ja'far (Ghundar), before continuing back to the Companions and the Prophet ﷺ .
The work was transmitted from al-Marwazi by Abu Abd Allah Muhammad ibn al-Ma'mun al-Mutatawwi'i al-Lahawuri (d. 603 AH / 1206–1207 CE) and has been collated and edited by Abd al-Rahim Muhammad Yusufan .
