Akhbar wa Hikayat (Reports and Anecdotes) is a collection of hadith transmissions, historical reports, and biographical anecdotes compiled by the Damascene traditionist Abu al-Hasan Muhammad ibn al-Fayd al-Ghassani (219–315 AH / 834–927 CE) .
Content and Transmission
The work belongs to the genre of traditional hadith parts (ajza'), preserving narrative accounts, moral sayings, and traditions equipped with their chains of narration (isnad) . The material was preserved through Syrian transmission networks, notably appearing in the transmission line associated with the Damascene traditionist Abu Bakr al-Raba'i, for which reason the work is also cited in biographical and bibliographic sources as Akhbar wa-Hikayat 'an Abi Bakr al-Raba'i . The text transmits narrations through earlier authorities such as Shihab ibn Khirash al-Hawshabi from Aban ibn Abi Ayyash from Anas ibn Malik .
