Ahkam al-Janaiz (Aḥkām al-Janāʾiz: Mafhūm, wa-Ightinām, wa-Mawāʿiẓ, wa-Ādāb, wa-Ḥuqūq, wa-Ṣabr, wa-Iḥtisāb, wa-Faḍāʾil, wa-Aḥkām fī Ḍawʾ al-Kitāb wa-al-Sunnah) is a legal treatise by Saeed bin Wahf al-Qahtani (d. 1440 AH / 2018 CE) detailing the jurisprudence, etiquettes, and spiritual aspects of death, funeral rites, and bereavement in Islam according to the Quran and the Sunnah .
Composition and Sources
The author completed the treatise after the sunset prayer on Tuesday, 1 Muharram 1424 AH (March 4, 2003 CE) . He extracted it as an independent work from his broader book Salat al-Mumin (Ṣalāt al-Muʾmin) to make its contents more accessible and convenient for readers .
Al-Qahtani structured the work around textual proofs drawn directly from the Quran and the prophetic Sunnah . In deriving legal determinations and preferences, he relied extensively on the verdicts of his teacher Abd al-Aziz ibn Baz, alongside the scholarly writings and determinations of Muhammad Nasir al-Din al-Albani and Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymin .
