Ahadith Muntakhaba min Mashyakhat Ibn Sasri (Selected Hadiths from the Mashyakha of Ibn Sasri) is a short hadith tract (juz') excerpting prophetic traditions from the teachers' catalog (mashyakha) of the Damascene traditionist Abu al-Qasim al-Husayn ibn Hibat Allah ibn Sasri (d. 626 AH / 1229 CE) .
Content and Transmission
The work preserves a selection of prophetic traditions narrated with complete chains of transmission (isnad), along with verses of poetry transmitted through the author's teachers . Among the shaykhs from whom Ibn Sasri relates narrations in the text are Abu Sulayman Dawud ibn Muhammad al-Khalidi al-Mawsili, the Shafi'i jurist al-Qadi Abu Sa'd Abd Allah ibn Abi al-Sari al-Tamimi (heard in Damascus in 551 AH), Abu Ahmad Zayd ibn Nasr al-Hamawi, Abu Bakr Abd Allah ibn Muhammad al-Nufani al-Tusi, Fadl Allah ibn Abi al-Qasim al-Mayhani, and Abu al-Makarim Yahya ibn Abd al-Ghaffar al-Dimashqi (heard in 545 AH) .
The transmission of this compilation is documented through the narration (riwaya) of Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Isma'il ibn Abd Allah ibn al-Anmati (via attendance, huduran), with the audition record (sama') recorded by its scribe, Sunqur ibn Abd Allah al-Maw'ani al-Hanafi, hearing it from him .
