Wahid Abd al-Salam Bali, also known by the kunya Abu Ammar, is a contemporary Islamic scholar and preacher known for his instructional treatises and works on lawful incantation (ruqya) and the prophetic biography.

Scholarly Activity and Orientation

In his early educational and preaching career, Bali gained broad recognition for his guides on spiritual afflictions, protection against sorcery, and lawful incantation, authoring al-Sarim al-Battar fi al-Tasaddi li-l-Sahara al-Ashrar (The Sharp Sword in Confronting Evil Sorcerers) and Wiqayat al-Insan min al-Jinn wa-l-Shaytan (Man's Protection Against Jinn and Satan). Although his early works and recordings included dialogues involving the jinn, he subsequently stepped back from that practice and shifted his focus primarily toward the study and instruction of Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) and the systematic training of students of Islamic knowledge.

Beyond legal and spiritual topics, he composed educational summaries for students, including al-Khulasa al-Bahiya fi Tartib Ahdath al-Sira al-Nabawiya (The Splendid Summary in Arranging the Events of the Prophetic Biography), a concise chronological text designed to facilitate memorization and structured study of the Prophet's ﷺ life. This summary was later commented upon by Abu Asma Muhammad ibn Taha in his explanatory work al-Aghsan al-Nadiya. Bali has also reviewed, supervised, and written prefaces for contemporary legal and theological research compiled by other authors, such as treatises by Abu Asim al-Barakati.
