Academic Career and Research
His full name is Tarhib bin Rubayan bin Hadi al-Dosari . In 1415 AH (1994–1995 CE), he and Dayfallah bin Salih al-Umari submitted academic theses to the Islamic University of Madinah to edit and analyze al-Rudud wa-l-Nuqud ("Rebuttals and Critiques"), an extensive commentary on Ibn al-Hajib's legal treatise by Akmal al-Din al-Babarti (d. 786 AH) . Their critical edition of the text was later published in Riyadh in 1426 AH (2005 CE), with al-Dosari editing the second volume . He has served as an assistant professor in the Department of Usul al-Fiqh at the Islamic University of Madinah, where he has also advised and guided postgraduate researchers .
Al-Dosari has focused his scholarly output on classical legal theory and methodological debates among early jurists. In his treatise Hujjiyyat Qawl al-Sahabi 'inda al-Salaf ("The Authoritative Status of the Companion's Opinion According to the Predecessors"), he argues that the authoritative standing of statements made by the Prophet's Companions was upheld by early authorities, the Successors, and the four Sunni legal schools, maintaining that disputes over the issue arose only in later periods . In Radd Khabar al-Wahid bi-ma Yusamma bi-l-Inqita' al-Batin ("Rejecting Solitary Reports on Grounds of Hidden Discontinuity"), he investigates Hanafi methodologies regarding solitary hadith transmissions (ahad), evaluating the arguments surrounding implicit interruptions (al-inqita' al-batin) and comparing them with the foundational approach of Abu Hanifa prioritizing prophetic reports over analogical reasoning (ra'y) .
