Ruqayyah al-Muharib (Ruqayyah bint Muhammad al-Muharib) is a Saudi scholar of hadith and Islamic jurisprudence who served as an assistant professor of hadith and its sciences at the College of Education in Riyadh.

Academic Career and Scholarship

Al-Muharib pursued specialized graduate training in hadith sciences, earning her master's degree in Islamic studies with her thesis Daf‘ Iham Ta‘arud Ahadith al-Ahkam fi Kitab al-Tahara (Dispelling the Apparent Contradiction Among Rulings-Hadiths in the Book of Purity). In this research, she addressed twenty-nine legal issues involving 115 seemingly contradictory prophetic traditions concerning ritual purity, resolving the apparent discrepancies through established methodologies of reconciliation (al-jam‘), abrogation (al-naskh), and textual preference (al-tarjih).

Following her graduate work, she held the post of assistant professor in the Department of Islamic Studies at the College of Education under the Girls' Colleges Administration in Riyadh. Her academic and instructional focus centered on the application of legal hadith, devotional practices, and women's jurisprudence. In 1425 AH (2004 CE), she published Masa'il Khassah bi-al-Mar'ah (Issues Specific to Women), a legal treatise examining intricate questions of female ritual purity, vaginal discharges, distinguishing between menstruation and irregular bleeding (istihadah), and overcoming scrupulosity in worship. She also authored Kayfa Takhsha‘ina fi al-Salah (How to Attain Humility in Prayer), offering practical guidance on spiritual focus and presence of heart across the various actions of ritual prayer.

Public Advocacy and Media

In addition to her university teaching, al-Muharib engaged in broader educational and advocacy efforts aimed at Muslim women. She served as the general supervisor of the women's web portal Laha Online and contributed essays calling for organizational coordination, intellectual unity, and active conferences among women engaged in Islamic educational work.
