Nur al-Din al-Wasabi (Abu ʿAmr Nur al-Din ibn ʿAli ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Sudaʿi al-Wasabi) is a contemporary scholar and researcher in hadith studies, best known for his biographical reference work Tuhfat al-Labib biman takallama fihim al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar min al-ruwat fi ghayr al-Taqrib (The Refined Gift on Narrators Evaluated by al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar Outside al-Taqrib) .

Scholarly Contribution and Reception

Al-Wasabi focused his scholarship on hadith criticism and narrator evaluation (al-jarh wa-l-taʿdil) . In Tuhfat al-Labib biman takallama fihim al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar min al-ruwat fi ghayr al-Taqrib, he assembled and organized narrator appraisals issued across the numerous writings of Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani that were not included in his concise biographical manual, Taqrib al-Tahdhib .

The work received commendation from the hadith scholar Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah al-Imam, who wrote a foreword in 1430 AH (2009 CE) praising the collection for gathering dispersed critical assessments and assisting researchers in the evaluation of hadith transmitters . The work was published in two volumes in 1431 AH (2010 CE) .
