Muwafaq Ahmad Shukri is a contemporary Islamic scholar and researcher in theology (aqida), best known for his monograph on the theological status of individuals unreached by prophetic revelation, Ahl al-fatra wa-man fi hukmihim.
Education and Academic Career
Shukri pursued advanced religious studies at Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh, completing an academic thesis at its College of Usul al-Din. His research was supervised by Abd al-Aziz al-Rajihi, professor of theology in the university's postgraduate studies department, and he received academic guidance from Ahmad Farhat.
His academic treatise, Ahl al-fatra wa-man fi hukmihim ("The People of the Interval and Those under Their Legal Status"), was subsequently published in 1409 AH (1988 CE) by Mu'assasat Ulum al-Qur'an in Ajman and Dar Ibn Kathir in Damascus and Beirut, after being corrected by Samir Ahmad al-Attar. The published treatise included prefaces by Abbas Mahjub and Muhammad Abd Allah al-Khatib. The study addresses the theological and legal rulings regarding ahl al-fatra (those living in intervals between prophetic messages or unreached by revelation), discussing humanity's need for divine messengers, the particularity of prophetic missions prior to Muhammad ﷺ, and the universality and permanence of Muhammad's ﷺ message.
