Mustafa al-Warraq Ibrahim was an Islamic scholar and educator, known for his writings on Quranic exegesis and theological polemics .
Scholarly Activity and Theological Views
Ibrahim served as an instructor at the Secondary Institute (al-Ma'had al-Thanawi) . In his scholarship, he engaged in doctrinal critiques against contemporary rationalist interpretations of the Quran, notably authoring the treatise Inkar al-Jinn min Shatahat al-Tafsir al-Mawdui lil-Quran (The Denial of the Jinn: Among the Aberrations of Thematic Exegesis of the Quran), which appeared in the journal of the Islamic University of Madinah (مجلة الجامعة الإسلامية بالمدينة المنورة) .
In his critique, Ibrahim defended traditional Islamic doctrine concerning the reality of the unseen realm (al-ghayb), directly refuting modern thematic interpretations such as those proposed by Dr. Muhammad al-Bahi . He rejected claims that sought to redefine the jinn as unfamiliar human beings—such as groups from the Aws and Khazraj tribes—or as metaphorical expressions for secretive humans . Ibrahim argued that belief in the jinn, like belief in angels, is an obligatory component of faith in the unseen that is definitively established by the Quran and authentic prophetic traditions . He maintained that denying their distinct existence undermines authentic exegesis by ignoring the Sunnah and the interpretive consensus of the early generations (السلف) in deference to materialist currents .

Inkar al-Jinn min Shatahat al-Tafsir al-Mawdui lil-Quran (The Denial of the Jinn: Among the Aberrations of Thematic Exegesis of the Quran) is a polemical theological treatise that refutes modernist interpretations denying the existence of the jinn. Published as a critical essay in the Journal of the Islamic University of Madinah, the work addresses and counters rationalist and exegetical arguments that seek to reframe the jinn as unfamiliar humans rather than real, distinct beings belonging to the unseen realm.
