Musa bin Rashid al-Azmi is a contemporary Kuwaiti researcher and author known for his multivolume work on the prophetic biography, al-Lu'lu' al-Maknun fi Sirat al-Nabi al-Ma'mun (The Hidden Pearl in the Biography of the Trusted Prophet).
Scholarly Work and Reception
Al-Azmi completed the compilation of al-Lu'lu' al-Maknun in Kuwait in Rabi' al-Akhir 1431 AH (March 2010 CE), and the four-volume work was published in 1432 AH (2011 CE). Subtitled as an authenticated study of the prophetic biography (Dirasah muhaqqaqah li-l-sirah al-nabawiyyah), the work systematically presents the events of the life of the Prophet Muhammad, relying extensively on classical Sirah authorities while prioritizing the verification of historical reports and highlighting non-authentic transmissions.
The work received commendations from contemporary scholars. Muhammad Rawwas Qal'ahji praised its research, source citations, and thorough documentation, while Uthman al-Khamis commended its comprehensive coverage of the prophetic biography, noting the author's meticulous selection from early authorities and his scrutiny of the transmitted reports.
