Muhammad Salim al-Khidr is a contemporary Islamic author and researcher based in Kuwait, known for his works on Sunni–Shi'i theological dialogue and early Islamic history.

Background and Scholarly Focus

Al-Khidr grew up in a mixed social environment comprising both Sunnis and Shi'is, an upbringing that sparked early questions and motivated his long-term study into the nature and historical roots of sectarian disagreements. His primary work on this topic, Thumma Absartu al-Haqiqa: Dirasa Mawdu‘iyya li-Abraz Nuqat al-Khilaf al-Sunni al-Shi‘i (Then I Saw the Truth: An Objective Study of the Prominent Points of Sunni–Shi'i Disagreement), was published by Shabakat Ansar Ahl al-Bayt. The work incorporates personal reflections alongside theological discussions, with its opening chapter detailing formative life experiences that shaped his inquiries.

In addition to polemical and comparative studies, he contributed to biographical research on early Islamic figures, co-authoring al-Qawl al-Sadid fi Sirat al-Husayn al-Shahid (The Sound Discourse on the Biography of the Martyr al-Husayn) with Muhammad ibn Abd al-Hadi al-Shaybani, which was issued by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in Kuwait in collaboration with Mabarrat al-Al wa-l-Ashab in 1431 AH.
