Muhammad Ibrahim bin Sarkand is a contemporary scholar of Islamic jurisprudence, known for his specialized research on abrogation and comparative legal disagreement.

Academic Career and Research

Bin Sarkand completed his doctoral studies in the Department of Jurisprudence (Fiqh) at the Faculty of Shari'a at the Islamic University of Medina. His doctoral dissertation, supervised by Abd al-Aziz ibn Mabruk al-Ahmadi, was submitted in 1430 AH (2009 CE) and received an "Excellent" evaluation. It was later published in 1432 AH (2010 CE) by the Deanship of Academic Research at the Islamic University of Medina under the title al-Ahkam al-Fiqhiyya allati qila fiha bi-l-naskh wa-atharu dhalika fi ikhtilaf al-fuqaha ("The Jurisprudential Rulings in Which Abrogation Was Claimed and Its Impact on Juristic Disagreement").

His scholarship examines how claims of abrogation (naskh) in Quranic verses and prophetic traditions serve as a primary factor underlying legal differences among Muslim jurists. His work compiles, categorizes, and analyzes contested rulings across the chapters of Islamic jurisprudence, assessing the textual evidence and demonstrating how differing conclusions on whether a text has been abrogated directly shape diverse juristic opinions.
