Muhammad al-Arifi, full name Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Mulhi al-Arifi, is a contemporary Saudi Islamic scholar, author, and academic based in Riyadh .
Education and Scholarly Career
Al-Arifi pursued his higher academic studies at Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh. For his master's degree, he took part in an academic project under the supervision of Abd al-Aziz ibn Abdullah al-Rajihi to verify and analyze the theological didactic poem al-Kafiyah al-Shafiyah fi al-Intisar lil-Firqah al-Najiyah by Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, contributing a critical survey and evaluation of its historical commentaries and glosses .
He subsequently earned his doctorate from the same university with a dissertation examining theological and doctrinal doctrines, titled Mawqif Ibn Taymiyyah min al-Sufiyyah ("Ibn Taymiyyah's Stance on Sufism"), which systematically analyzed the sources, historical development, and critical assessment of Sufi movements according to Ibn Taymiyyah .
Juridical Compilations and Standing
In his early scholarly activities in Riyadh, al-Arifi studied under the Saudi jurist Abdullah ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Jibreen . Al-Arifi formulated practical juridical questions concerning the Islamic call to prayer and recorded Ibn Jibreen's oral rulings, subsequently transcribing and documenting the prophetic traditions cited within them . This material was compiled into the legal guide al-Mufid fi Taqrib Ahkam al-Adhan in 1414 AH (1993/1994 CE) . In his written endorsement of the treatise, Ibn Jibreen commended al-Arifi for his discernment, intelligence, and effort in clarifying practical aspects of worship and addressing widespread misconceptions among the public and prayer callers .

List of Works
al-Mufid fi Taqrib Ahkam al-Adhan (The Useful Guide in Facilitating the Rulings of the Call to Prayer) is a legal treatise presenting a collection of juridical questions and answers on the Islamic call to prayer (adhan) and the second call to prayer (iqamah). Arranged in a realistic question-and-answer format, the work was designed to provide practical legal guidance regarding the adhan rather than theoretical or rare hypothetical cases found in extended legal compendia.
