Majmoul al-Jadani (fl. 1433–1435 AH / 2012–2014 CE) is a contemporary Saudi researcher in Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh), known for her academic treatise al-Istidrak al-Fiqhi Taseelan wa Tatbiqan ("Juristic Rectification: Theoretical Foundations and Practical Applications") .

Academic career

Majmoul bint Ahmad ibn Humayd al-Jadani pursued her postgraduate studies in jurisprudence at Umm al-Qura University in Mecca, within the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies . She prepared her master's thesis under the academic supervision of Abdullah ibn Atiyyah al-Ghamdi . Her defense committee included Abd al-Rahman Husayn al-Mawjan and Afnan Muhammad Tilmisani . The research was completed in Rajab 1433 AH and presented during the 1433–1434 AH academic year . The study was subsequently published in Mecca in 1435 AH (2014 CE) .

Scholarly contribution and reception

Al-Jadani's primary contribution focused on formalizing the theoretical and applied methodology of al-istidrak (rectification and critical commentary) across classical juristic literature . Her work classified related concepts—such as critique, correction, revision, and marginal commentary—and outlined the criteria, etiquette, and systematic impacts of juristic rectification on legal thought and authorship .

Her research served as an early reference point for subsequent academic studies on rectification in Islamic legal disciplines . Later scholars, while acknowledging her precedent, engaged critically with her framework; Iman bint Salim Qabbus noted differences with al-Jadani regarding the scope of the definition of istidrak, its fundamental pillars, and its applied boundaries, arguing that the conceptual scope of rectification extended beyond al-Jadani's delineation .
