Academic Career and Scholarship

Mahdi bin Rizq Allah Ahmad served as an academic specializing in Islamic studies within the Department of Islamic Culture and held the rank of associate professor in the College of Education at the university. His research focuses heavily on the Prophetic biography, emphasizing the rigorous documentation of historical events based on primary sources and authenticated hadith transmissions, while extracting practical lessons and moral guidance. His major treatise in this field is al-Sirah al-Nabawiyyah fi Daw' al-Masadir al-Asliyyah (The Prophetic Biography in Light of Primary Sources), first published in 1412 AH (1992 CE) by the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies in Riyadh.

In addition to foundational biographical writing, he produced critical studies evaluating orientalist scholarship on the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. In Maza'im wa Akhta' wa Tanaqudat wa Shubuhat Bodley fi Kitabihi al-Rasul, Hayat Muhammad: Dirasah Naqdiyah (Allegations, Errors, Contradictions, and Doubts of Bodley in His Book 'The Messenger: The Life of Mohammed': A Critical Study), he employed an analytical methodology to examine and refute claims made by the British author R. V. C. Bodley by evaluating them against authentic Islamic biographical sources. He also authored a critical examination of the writings of the orientalist Henri Lammens regarding the Prophetic biography.
