Scholarly Contributions

Khalid ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Hamad al-Shaya completed his critique of the hadith editor Shu'ayb al-Arna'ut in Riyadh on 15 Muharram 1418 AH (1997 CE), and it was published in 1419 AH (1998 CE) . The work was examined and annotated by the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Abd al-Aziz ibn Abd Allah ibn Baz . In the treatise, al-Shaya addressed passages where al-Arna'ut adopted figurative interpretation (ta'wil) or cited Ash'ari viewpoints regarding the Divine Attributes in his editorial footnotes across several classical compilations, including Sahih Ibn Hibban and al-Nawawi's Riyad al-Salihin .

Al-Shaya also edited and prepared the publication of Ibn Baz's treatise al-Qawadih fi al-Aqidah wa-Wasa'il al-Salamah Minha (Flaws in Creed and the Means of Protection From Them) in 1416 AH . In the field of practical and legal ethics, he authored al-Satr ala Ahl al-Ma'asi (Concealing the Faults of Sinners), which examines the scriptural and early scholarly guidelines regarding religious discretion and personal privacy .
