Kamal al-Din Abd al-Ghani al-Mursi is a modern author and scholar of Islamic education, best known for his treatise Min Qadaya al-Tarbiya al-Diniyya fi al-Mujtama al-Islami (Issues of Religious Education in Islamic Society) .

Educational Thought

In his pedagogical writings, al-Mursi defines tarbiya (education and upbringing) as a comprehensive process of nurture, care, and guidance extended by the elder to the young and by the learned to the learner . He maintains that Islam provides exhaustive guidance encompassing all dimensions of individual and societal life, designed to cultivate human potential in harmony with the innate disposition (fitra) through divine revelation and prophetic instruction .

Al-Mursi delineates the foundational sources of Islamic educational thought as the Qur'an, the prophetic Sunnah, and the pedagogical guidance left by the Companions and subsequent early generations . His educational model follows sequential life stages, beginning with marriage and family formation, preparing for the arrival of the newborn, nurturing during early childhood, and guiding development through youth into adulthood .

To implement this educational program, he identifies several practical methods, including direct instruction and habituation, exemplary modeling (al-qudwa), structuring daily time and devotional regimens, moral storytelling and admonition, and disciplinary measures, while also critically examining contemporary pedagogical and human rights discourses promoted by international bodies such as UNESCO . His primary treatise on the subject was published in 1419 AH (1998/1999 CE) by Dar al-Ma'rifa al-Jami'iyya .
