Iyas Al Khattab (Iyas Muhammad Harb Al Khattab) is a contemporary researcher in Quranic studies, known for his work on the linguistic and rhetorical inimitability (iʿjāz) of the Quran.

Scholarly Contribution

He authored al-Qawl al-Muʿtabar fī Bayān al-Iʿjāz lil-Ḥurūf al-Muqaṭṭaʿah min Fawātiḥ al-Suwar ("The Considered Statement on Clarifying the Inimitability of the Disjoined Letters from the Openings of the Surahs"), subtitled as a study on the linguistic and rhetorical inimitability of the Quran, which was published in its first edition in 2011 CE. In the opening supplication of the treatise, he expressed that if his interpretation of the Quranic verses contained good for Muslims and seekers of sacred knowledge, God should facilitate its emergence and grant it acceptance, while praying that if it championed a view contrary to the Law, sound understanding of the Quran, or aligned with innovation (bidʿah), it should be withheld from appearing and be forgotten.
