Ibrahim ibn Abd Allah al-Mutlaq is a contemporary Saudi scholar and academic specializing in Islamic missionary methodology (da‘wah), known for his study al-Tadarruj fi Da‘wat al-Nabi (Gradation in the Prophet’s Call) .

Academic Career and Scholarship

Al-Mutlaq served as a faculty member in the College of Da‘wah and Media at Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh . His research focuses on missionary theory and practice, particularly the prophetic model of gradual progression (al-tadarruj) in conveying Islam and instructing people according to their readiness . In his monograph al-Tadarruj fi Da‘wat al-Nabi, published by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Da‘wah, and Guidance, he analyzed gradualism across three primary dimensions: the subject matter conveyed, the means and style employed, and the condition of the recipient .

To address contemporary applications of these principles, al-Mutlaq consulted leading Saudi scholars and incorporated their verdicts into his work, including Grand Mufti Abd al-Aziz ibn Baz, Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymin, and Salih ibn Fawzan al-Fawzan . The work received formal commendation from Salih al-Fawzan, who endorsed its articulation of prophetic methodology as a corrective for contemporary missionary efforts .
