Ibrahim ibn Sa'id al-Dosari is a contemporary Saudi scholar specializing in Quranic sciences and readings (qira'at), known for his lexical work Mukhtasar al-Ibarat li-Mujam Mustalahat al-Qiraat.

Academic Career and Scholarship

Ibrahim ibn Sa'id ibn Hamad al-Dosari served as an assistant professor and subsequently as an associate professor in the Department of Quran and Its Sciences within the College of Usul al-Din at Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh.

His scholarly work centers on Quranic sciences, the systematization of technical terminology in recitation and readings, and the methodology of validating variant readings. In his specialized dictionary Mukhtasar al-Ibarat li-Mujam Mustalahat al-Qiraat ("Abridged Expressions for the Dictionary of Readings Terminology"), he isolated and refined the terminology of the discipline, developing it alongside a companion dictionary titled al-Tajrid li-Mujam Mustalahat al-Tajwid ("The Abstract for the Dictionary of Tajwid Terminology") from a previously unified lexicon. In his study al-Minhaj fi al-Hukm ala al-Qiraat ("The Methodology for Evaluating Quranic Readings"), he examined the criteria established by Sunnis for authenticating recitations—namely transmission by trustworthy narrators, conformity to the Uthmanic script, and compatibility with Arabic grammar—classifying readings into recurrent (mutawatir) ten readings and anomalous (shadhdh) readings while explaining the judicial implications of anomaly.
