Husayn Ali Muhammad (d. 1431 AH / 2010 CE) was an Egyptian poet, literary scholar, and academic who served as an associate professor of Arabic literature at Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh.

Academic and Literary Career

Muhammad was an academic and writer based in Riyadh, where he worked as an associate professor in the Faculty of Arabic Language at Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University. In his university teaching, he drew upon extensive pedagogical experience to address modern composition and stylistic writing, authoring his prominent textbook al-Tahrir al-Adabi: Dirasat Nazariyyah wa-Namadhij Tatbiqiyyah ("Literary Composition: Theoretical Studies and Applied Models"). The work, conceived at the suggestion and encouragement of Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Rabi', Vice Rector of Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University, was completed in Riyadh in Ramadan 1416 AH (January 1996 CE) to bridge theoretical rules with practical linguistic application, followed by an expanded second edition in Dhu al-Qi'dah 1420 AH (February 2000 CE) featuring selections by Abd al-Aziz al-Rifa'i, Mahmud Taymur, and Ali Muhammad al-Gharib.

Critical Standing

Muhammad emerged among the generation of Egyptian poets of the 1970s. In his critical survey al-Ward wa-l-haluk, Dr. Hilmi Muhammad al-Qa'ud classified him as one of the prominent traditionalist poets ("poets of the rose" / shu'ara' al-ward), alongside Ahmad Fadl Shablul, Jamil Mahmud Abd al-Rahman, Sabir Abd al-Dayim, and Abd Allah al-Sayyid Sharaf, commending their dedication to classical Arab heritage, Islamic values, and measured poetic renewal.
