Hasanah bint Sa'id Mu'aydh al-Qarni is a contemporary Saudi scholar of Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh) associated with Umm al-Qura University in Makkah.
Academic Career and Research
Al-Qarni pursued her higher studies in the Department of Fiqh within the Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Umm al-Qura University. In the academic year 1446 AH / 2025 CE, she prepared her doctoral dissertation under the supervision of Associate Professor Huwayda bint Bakhit Humayd al-Luhaybi al-Harbi.
Her specialized research centers on the methodology of deriving and structuring subordinate legal rulings upon preceding subsidiary rulings (bina' al-furu' 'ala al-furu') within Hanbali jurisprudence. Her study investigates this jurisprudential mechanism through Mansur al-Buhuti's foundational Hanbali commentary Kashshaf al-Qina', spanning the sections from the Book of Marriage (Kitab al-Nikah) and the exclusive legal characteristics of the Prophet ﷺ to the end of the chapter on marital defects (Bab al-'Uyub fi al-Nikah). In her scholarly recommendations, she has advocated for further targeted investigations into substantive legal derivation across various legal traditions and texts.
