List of Works
This academic study in Arabic grammar examines the life, surviving output, and grammatical approach of the fifth-century AH Andalusian grammarian Abu Bakr Khitab ibn Yusuf ibn Hilal al-Mardi. It analyzes his historical context in al-Andalus, addresses textual corruptions of his name, and investigates his major work al-Tarshih fi al-Nahw alongside his methodology in utilizing linguistic evidence, analogical deduction, and independent grammatical judgment.
This specialized bio-bibliographical monograph investigates and determines the identity of the author of the lost multi-volume grammatical work al-Basit, resolving widespread confusion and misattributions in contemporary editorial scholarship. It traces classical citations of the text, establishes its author as the Andalusi grammarian Diya' al-Din Abu 'Abd Allah Muhammad ibn 'Ali al-Ishbili (known as Ibn al-'Ilj), and analyzes his grammatical method and doctrines based on preserved fragments.
This work presents a critical edition and analytical study of a grammatical treatise on the parsing of the Islamic declaration of faith (La ilaha illa Allah), attributed to Ibn Hisham al-Ansari. Edited from a unique manuscript, the treatise investigates the syntactic aspects of both the nominative and accusative cases for the noun following the particle illa, while the accompanying study examines the construction's attestations across the Quran, Hadith, and classical poetry.
