Education and Scholarship
Hamza Muhammad Qasim pursued his Islamic education in Medina, studying under several of the city's scholars, and graduated from the higher division of the School of Sharia Sciences (مدرسة العلوم الشرعية) in Medina.
He authored a moderate abridgment of Sahih al-Bukhari and accompanied it with a simplified commentary aimed at students of Islamic knowledge, titled Manar al-Qari Sharh Mukhtasar Sahih al-Bukhari. In expounding the traditions, he relied on early classical jurists and hadith commentators, incorporating legal rulings from the four Sunni schools of jurisprudence alongside majority and differing scholarly opinions. His commentary was reviewed by the hadith scholar Abd al-Qadir al-Arna'ut.
