Scholarly Career and Research

Fawzi Yusuf Abduh al-Habit is an academic professor whose research focuses on classical Arabic lexicography and linguistic treatises . He published a study titled Kitāb al-Ajnās fī Kalām al-ʿArab li-Abī ʿUbayd: Hal Huwa Maʾkhūdh min Kitābihi Gharīb al-Ḥadīth? in the Journal of the Faculty of Arabic Language in Menoufia, Egypt, examining the attribution and sources of the lexical work attributed to Abu Ubayd al-Qasim ibn Sallam .

In his study Maʿājim Maʿānī Alfāẓ al-Qurʾān al-Karīm ("Dictionaries of the Meanings of Quranic Words"), completed on 13 Dhu al-Hijjah 1420 AH (19 March 2000 CE), al-Habit surveyed the history, classification, and authorship movement of specialized dictionaries devoted to rare and obscure Quranic vocabulary (gharīb al-Qurʾān) . His methodology centered on examining available texts directly to verify their conformity to the genre of gharīb, thereby excluding broader works of Quranic commentary—such as al-Nisaburi's Gharāʾib al-Qurʾān wa-Raghāʾib al-Furqān—that general bibliographies had categorized under gharīb despite being comprehensive exegeses .
