Farid al-Din Aydin (also romanized as Feriduddin Aydin; fl. late 14th–15th century AH / late 20th century CE) is an author and scholar known for his studies on Arabic grammar and Islamic thought.

Scholarly Contribution

Aydin contributed to the study of Arabic verbal semantics and temporal structures in his treatise al-Azmina fi al-Lugha al-Arabiya bil-Muqarana ma al-Lughat al-Ajnabiya (Tenses in the Arabic Language in Comparison with Foreign Languages), which he completed on 26 Safar 1418 AH (1 July 1997 CE). In this work, he addressed the relationship between verbs and temporal constraints in Arabic, noting that while classical scholars recognized distinctions between unrestricted and temporally conditioned verbs, they rarely categorized tense formulas systematically as done in foreign languages. Alongside his linguistic writing, he authored a study on Sufi orders titled al-Tariqa al-Naqshbandiyya bayna madiha wa-hadiriha (The Naqshbandi Order Between Its Past and Present).
