Education and Scholarly Focus

Fahd ibn Salih ibn Abd al-Aziz al-Ajlan completed his higher education in Saudi Arabia, earning a master's degree in 1428 AH (2007 CE) from the Department of Islamic Culture at the College of Education at King Saud University in Riyadh .

His scholarly research focuses on modern legal questions, governance, and intellectual trends confronting Islamic thought. In his academic treatise al-Intikhabat wa-Ahkamuha fi al-Fiqh al-Islami (Elections and Their Rulings in Islamic Jurisprudence), published in 1430 AH (2009 CE), al-Ajlan analyzed modern electoral mechanisms in light of Islamic legal principles . He distinguished elections from the classical institution of bayʿah (pledge of allegiance) and shūrā (consultation), concluding that contemporary elections represent a legally permissible mechanism for political representation and leadership provided they fulfill public interest and their benefits outweigh associated harms .

Al-Ajlan also engaged with contemporary ideological debates surrounding the authority and interpretation of scriptural sources in his two-part work Maʿrakat al-Nass (The Battle of the Text), published in Riyadh in 1433–1434 AH (2012–2013 CE) . The treatise addresses modern critiques of Islamic revealed texts, the invocation of maqāṣid al-sharīʿah (the objectives of Islamic law) in contemporary discourse, and secular methodological approaches to religious law .
