Aqil bin Salim al-Shahri is a contemporary Islamic scholar and preacher who served as a member of the Center for Da'wah and Guidance in Hafr al-Batin . He is known for his research on extracting jurisprudential and spiritual lessons from Prophetic traditions .

Scholarly Career and Contributions

In his writings, al-Shahri—whose nisba is also recorded in his introduction as al-Shammari—pursued an interpretive approach aimed at extracting jurisprudential rulings, spiritual reflections, and educational values directly from hadith texts, a process he referred to as tathwir al-Sunnah ("stimulating deeper extraction from the Sunnah") .

As a practical application of this project, he authored Salat al-Istikhara: Masa'il Fiqhiyya wa Fawa'id Tarbawiyya ("The Istikhara Prayer: Jurisprudential Issues and Educational Benefits"), which was published by Dar Kunuz Ishbilya . In this treatise, he structured the study of the guidance prayer into two primary divisions: twenty-one jurisprudential questions concerning its performance, timing, conditions, and supplication, followed by eighty educational and faith-building insights derived from the text of the supplication transmitted by the Companion Jabir ibn Abd Allah .
