Amr Abd al-Munim Salim (b. 1386 AH / 1967 CE) is an Egyptian researcher and specialist in Hadith studies and Islamic jurisprudence, known for his work in hadith verification and publishing.

Early Life and Education

Amr ibn Abd al-Munim ibn Abd al-Aal Al Salim was born in Egypt on 24 February 1967. In 1974, he moved with his father to Kuwait, where his father was employed as a physical education teacher in the Ministry of Education. He completed his primary and secondary schooling in Kuwait and went on to graduate from Kuwait University with a degree in computer science in 1988.

Career and Scholarly Activity

Following his graduation, Salim worked in Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity and Water. During this time, he collaborated with Abdullah al-Juday' at the International Company (al-Sharika al-Alamiyya) on a project dedicated to the computer programming of the Nine Books of Hadith. Although he did not study a specific primer in hadith terminology under al-Juday', he gained practical training in hadith methodology through their joint work on the project.

Salim married in Kuwait and had his first child there. Following the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990, he returned to Egypt, where he continued working for the International Company for six months after its relocation. He subsequently left the company to dedicate himself full-time to research and writing, focusing primarily on Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), hadith terminology (mustalah al-hadith), and hadith verification (takhrij). In 1998, he founded the publishing house Dar al-Diya', through which he oversees and prints his own critical editions and writings, including his treatise Hadm al-Manara liman Sahhah Ahadith al-Tawassul wa al-Ziyara ("Demolishing the Lighthouse for Whoever Authenticated the Hadiths of Intercession and Grave Visitation"). He is the father of four sons: Abd al-Rahman, Abd Allah, Abd al-Salam, and Abd al-Aziz.
