Academic Career and Research

Salim was affiliated with the Higher Institute of Islamic Da‘wah. He composed a specialized hadith treatise titled Hawl Hadith al-Dhubab ("Concerning the Hadith of the Fly"), which was also published in the journal of the Islamic University of Madinah. In this work, he examines the prophetic narration recorded by al-Bukhari and other compilers regarding the dipping of a fly that falls into a drink or vessel: إذا وقع الذباب في إناء أحدكم فليغمسه كلّه ثم ليطرحه فإن في إحدى جناحيه داء وفي الآخر شفاء ("If a fly falls into the vessel of one of you, let him submerge it entirely and then cast it out, for in one of its wings is disease and in the other is a cure"). The treatise provides an analytical commentary covering the chains of transmission, biographical evaluations of the narrators, textual variants, and linguistic and biological discussions related to the narration.
