Academic Career and Research

Sadiq held the professorship of educational psychology in the Faculty of Education at Helwan University in Cairo, where she also served as vice president for community service and environmental development . Throughout her academic career, she collaborated closely with her husband, the educational psychologist Fuad Abu Hatab, producing foundational curricula and joint studies, including their early textbook Ilm al-Nafs al-Tarbawi ("Educational Psychology") .

Her specialized research encompassed child perception, aesthetic abilities, and psychological assessment. She prepared the Arabic standardization of Carl Seashore's test of musical ability, which evaluates auditory discrimination, pitch, rhythm, and tonal memory . In developmental theory, she formulated a model of infant sensory and perceptual development proposing that infants in their first two years process stimuli through a multisensory approach before transitioning from generalized detection to differentiating distinct stimulus features .

Scholarly Approach

In developmental psychology, Sadiq and Abu Hatab advocated organizing empirical psychological findings across the human lifespan within a Quranic framework . In Numu al-Insan min Marhalat al-Janin ila Marhalat al-Musinin, they structured the stages of human growth—from embryonic conception to old age—to align scientific observation with the developmental trajectory outlined in Surah al-Hajj, articulating an Islamic orientation for the discipline while maintaining standard empirical research methods .
