In poetry, he compiled Hamasat al-zurafa' min ash'ar al-muhdathin wa-al-qudama' (The Hamasa of the Elegant Wits from the Poetry of the Moderns and Ancients), an anthology arranged according to the thematic structure of Abu Tammam's Hamasa, combining selections from earlier and contemporary poets alongside his own verses .
