Abu Abd الله al-Dani ibn Munir Al Zahawi (fl. 15th century AH / 21st century CE) is a contemporary Lebanese hadith researcher and textual editor, known for compiling verified non-prophetic traditions from the early generations of Islam.
Scholarly Activity
Al-Dani ibn Munir Al Zahawi, who also carries the nisba al-Amili al-Salafi, was active in the coastal town of Jiyeh in Mount Lebanon. His scholarship centers on hadith documentation, chain-of-transmission analysis, and the critical edition of classical Islamic texts.
He compiled Silsilat al-Athar al-Sahiha aw al-Sahih al-Musnad min Aqwal al-Sahaba wa al-Tabi'in (The Series of Authentic Traditions, or the Documented Sound Narrations from the Sayings of the Companions and Successors), a multi-volume reference work devoted to gathering authentic non-prophetic narrations (athar), analyzing their transmission paths, and extracting their jurisprudential and theological benefits. This compilation was reviewed and introduced by the scholar Abd Allah ibn Salih al-Ubaylan and published in Beirut in 1424 AH (2003 CE).
In the field of manuscript editing and text verification, Al Zahawi prepared annotated editions of early source texts, including Khasa'is Amir al-Mu'minin Ali ibn Abi Talib (The Distinctive Merits of the Commander of the Faithful Ali ibn Abi Talib) by al-Nasa'i and Taqyid al-Ilm (The Restricting of Knowledge) by al-Khatib al-Baghdadi.
