Ahmad Muharram al-Shaykh Naji is a modern Egyptian scholar of Hadith and academic who served as an assistant professor and head of the Department of Hadith at the Faculty of Usul al-Din and Da'wah in Asyut. He is best known for his study on Hadith methodologies, al-Daw' al-Lami' al-Mubin 'an Manahij al-Muhaddithin (The Manifest Shining Light on the Methodologies of Hadith Scholars).

Academic Career and Scholarship

Al-Shaykh Naji pursued his academic career within Al-Azhar University, where he chaired the Hadith department at the Faculty of Usul al-Din and Da'wah in Asyut. Among his prominent teachers was the Azhari scholar Muhammad Muhammad Abu Zahw.

His primary scholarly contribution lies in the analysis of the methodologies adopted by Hadith transmitters and critics across Islamic history. Building upon earlier foundational works in the field—such as Abu Zahw's al-Hadith wa-l-Muhaddithun and Muhammad Muhammad Abu Shahbah's A'lam al-Muhaddithin—al-Shaykh Naji composed al-Daw' al-Lami' al-Mubin 'an Manahij al-Muhaddithin to trace the developmental stages of Hadith scholarship and documentation from the era of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ down to modern times. The treatise was first published in Cairo in 1407 AH (1986–1987 CE) and saw multiple subsequent editions.
