Ahmad bin Abd al-Aziz al-Hamdan is a contemporary Saudi author and bibliographer based in Jeddah, best known for his multi-volume bibliographic guide Dalil Maktabat al-Mar'a al-Muslima ("Guide to the Muslim Woman's Library") .

Scholarly Contributions

Al-Hamdan developed Dalil Maktabat al-Mar'a al-Muslima as an evaluative reference work to guide readers through the diverse literature written on women, children, and family affairs in Islam . In the work, which was published in successive volumes by Dar al-Andalus al-Khadra', he cataloged, summarized, and critiqued Islamic treatises, highlighting helpful monographs while pointing out methodological or legal shortcomings .

To supplement the individual book reviews, he incorporated documentary appendices indexing institutional research. In the third volume, he provided an index of all studies and resolutions relating to women and children issued in the first nine volumes of the Islamic Fiqh Academy in Jeddah, an affiliate of the Muslim World League . In the fourth volume, he appended an index of articles, research papers, and legal verdicts on women and children published in Majallat al-Buhuth al-Islamiyya, the official journal of the General Presidency of Scholarly Research and Ifta in Saudi Arabia .

Beyond his bibliographic indexing, he also compiled a short treatise titled Haqa'iq hawl al-Mawlid al-Nabawi ("Facts Regarding the Prophet's Birthday") examining historical and legal questions surrounding the observance of the Prophet's birth .
