Abu Bakr Ahmad al-Sayyid is an Islamic educator and author known for his pedagogical treatise Risala ila al-Mudarrisin wal-Mudarrisat (A Letter to Male and Female Teachers).

Educational Guidance and Reception

Al-Sayyid, who holds a doctorate, wrote on educational ethics and Islamic outreach (da'wa) within academic settings. In his work Risala ila al-Mudarrisin wal-Mudarrisat, he addressed teachers regarding their responsibility in guiding students, framing education and instruction as fields of religious striving and reform. He emphasized that teaching, including secular subjects, serves as an act of worship when accompanied by a sincere intention to cultivate faith, affirm Islamic beliefs, and prepare students as future leaders. He also highlighted the educator's duty to provide a practical role model through upright conduct, gentle admonition, and commanding right and forbidding wrong.

His treatise was commended by contemporary educators and prepared for republication with editorial additions by Abdullah ibn Jar Allah al-Jar Allah, who verified its Quranic citations, sourced its hadiths, added explanatory notes and a subject index, and appended a supplementary section dated 1 Muharram 1407 AH covering teacher responsibilities, learning methods, and moral leadership.
