Abu Asma Muhammad ibn Taha (fl. 15th century AH / 21st century CE), whose full name is Muhammad ibn Taha ibn Sha'ban, is a contemporary Islamic scholar and author best known for his work on the prophetic biography, al-Aghsan al-Nadiyya Sharh al-Khulasa al-Bahiyya.

Scholarly Work and Reception

Muhammad ibn Taha composed al-Aghsan al-Nadiyya as an expanded commentary on al-Khulasa al-Bahiyya fi Tartib Ahdath al-Sira al-Nabawiyya, an abridged chronological primer on the prophetic biography compiled by Wahid ibn Abd al-Salam Bali. Seeking to clarify ambiguities and elucidate events that were only briefly summarized in the original text, he requested permission from Bali to write the commentary. In a preface dated Rajab 1431 AH (2010 CE), Bali endorsed the project and commended the work as a comprehensive exposition that effectively annotated historical events and integrated relevant prophetic traditions.

The commentary was also evaluated and introduced by Dr. Abd al-Bari Muhammad al-Tahir, professor of Islamic History and Civilization at the Faculty of Dar al-Ulum, Fayoum University, who commended the author for his organized structure, precise phrasing, and broad coverage of events across the Prophet's life. The book was published collaboratively by Dar Subul al-Salam in Fayoum and Dar Ibn Hazm in Cairo.
