Abd Allah ibn Salih al-Muhsin is a contemporary Islamic scholar and educator who served as an instructor at the Islamic University of Madinah. He is best known for his hadith commentary, al-Sharh al-mujaz al-mufid (The Concise and Useful Commentary).
Career and Scholarly Contribution
Al-Muhsin was appointed to teach at the Islamic University of Madinah. In the field of hadith, he composed al-Sharh al-mujaz al-mufid, providing an exposition of the Forty Hadith of al-Nawawi along with the eight supplementary narrations added to the collection by Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali.
In his commentary, al-Muhsin followed the pedagogical arrangement of later scholars: presenting the text of the hadith, clarifying its individual vocabulary (mufradat), enumerating the deduced legal and spiritual lessons (al-fawa'id al-mustanbatah), and concluding with an overall synthesis (al-sharh al-ijmali). The second edition of the work was printed by Matba'at al-Sa'adah in Egypt in 1390 AH (1970–1971 CE).
