Abd Allah ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Jarbu is a contemporary scholar of Islamic creed and theology associated with the Islamic University of Madinah, recognized for his research on Quranic analogical parables and intellectual defense.
Academic Career and Research
Al-Jarbu pursued his higher education at the Islamic University of Madinah within the Faculty of Da'wah and Usul al-Din. His interest in the role of creedal fortification began during his fourth undergraduate year while studying courses on the methods of intellectual encroachment and the means to counter them. He was formally admitted to doctoral studies in the Department of Creed (Qism al-Aqida) at the Faculty of Da'wah and Usul al-Din on 7 Rajab 1414 AH.
His doctoral research was published by the university's Deanship of Scientific Research under the title al-Amthal al-Quraniyya al-Qiyasiyya al-Madruba lil-Iman billah (The Analogical Quranic Parables Struck for Faith in God). In this work, he examines the Quranic method of establishing the foundational pillar of faith through analogical argument, categorizing these parables across three distinct logical modes: analogical comparison (qiyas al-tamthil), universal subsumption (qiyas al-shumul), and argument a fortiori (qiyas al-awla).
In his study Athar al-Iman fi Tahsin al-Umma al-Islamiyya didd al-Afkar al-Haddama (The Impact of Faith in Fortifying the Muslim Ummah Against Destructive Ideas), al-Jarbu investigates how sound doctrinal belief serves as a protective mechanism against ideological deviations. The study explores the internal psychological effects of faith in purifying and developing the spiritual conscience, as well as its societal role in safeguarding communal identity and solidarity through Islamic moral structures.
