Abd Allah ibn Abd al-Aziz al-Jibrin (d. 1438 AH / 2017 CE) was a Saudi scholar of Islamic creed and jurisprudence in Riyadh, known for his doctrinal manual Tashil al-Aqida al-Islamiyya (Facilitating Islamic Creed).
Academic Career and Public Roles
Al-Jibrin served in higher education in Riyadh, holding the rank of associate professor at the Teachers College and later retiring as a full professor from King Saud University. In addition to his university career, he served as a member of Ifta (the official body for issuing legal opinions).
Scholarly Contributions
Al-Jibrin focused primarily on clarifying Sunni theology and Hanbali jurisprudence for academic and educational audiences. His primary work in creed, Tashil al-Aqida al-Islamiyya, was prepared with detailed documentation for scholars and specialists, and he subsequently produced an abridgment (Mukhtasar) omitting extensive annotations to serve beginner students and non-specialists. In jurisprudence, he authored the multi-volume work Tashil al-Fiqh (Facilitating Jurisprudence). He also engaged in academic research and critical editing of manuscripts, including his study and edition of Ahkam al-Ikhtilaf fi Ru'yat Hilal Dhi al-Hijja (Rulings on Disagreement Regarding the Sighting of the Crescent of Dhu al-Hijja) by Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali, published in the scholarly journal Majallat al-Buhuth al-Islamiyya.
