Abd Allah bin Ibrahim al-Zahim is a contemporary Saudi Hanbali jurist and professor of Islamic jurisprudence at the Islamic University of Madinah.

Academic Career and Studies

Al-Zahim received formal training in Quranic recitation, reciting the complete text of the Quran according to the narration of Hafs from Asim via the Shatibiyyah path. He pursued an academic career in Islamic law, serving as a professor of fiqh in the Faculty of Sharia at the Islamic University of Madinah, where he oversaw and chaired academic examination committees for graduate theses.

Jurisprudential Focus

Specializing in Hanbali jurisprudence and legal research, al-Zahim published scholarly legal studies in the journal Majallat al-Buhuth al-Islamiyyah, including treatises on the rituals of pilgrimage, such as Anwa' al-Tawaf wa-Ahkamuh (The Types of Circumambulation and Their Rulings) and Wajibat al-Tawaf (The Obligatory Elements of Circumambulation).

In Hanbali law, he composed the jurisprudential manual al-Kifayah, which he completed in 1430 AH (2009 CE). He compiled the text by synthesizing several authoritative Hanbali primers—Kafi al-Mubtadi, Akhsar al-Mukhtasarat, Dalil al-Talib, Umdat al-Talib, and Mukhtasar Khawqir—while predominantly adopting the relied-upon positions of al-Iqna' on disputed points within the madhhab.
