Abd Allah al-Khalifi (full name: Abd Allah ibn Fahd al-Khalifi) is a contemporary Islamic scholar and hadith compiler known for his compilations of authentic non-prophetic traditions (athar) transmitted from the Prophet's Companions (Sahaba).

Scholarly Approach and Methodology

Al-Khalifi focused his research on gathering authentic traditions from the early generations of Islam (al-salaf), arguing that compiling and studying their reports is essential to understanding the Quran and the Sunnah, as the Companions possessed the deepest knowledge of the revelation.

His primary contribution is his multi-part compilation of authentic reports on asceticism (zuhd), heart-softening counsel (raqa'iq), morals, and etiquette (adab), titled al-Sahih al-Musnad min Athar al-Sahaba fi al-Zuhd wa al-Raqaiq wa al-Akhlaq wa al-Adab. Organized around individual Companions—including distinct volumes dedicated to the Rightly Guided Caliphs (al-Khulafa' al-Rashidun) and Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud—the project was conceived as the foundation for a larger undertaking to document sound transmissions of the Companions' teachings. While aiming to include only rigorously authenticated narrations that were peer-reviewed prior to publication, he occasionally incorporated reports that fell below his strict authentication threshold when he deemed their thematic content of particular importance.
