Abd al-Wahhab bin Tuwaila (also known as Abd al-Wahhab Abd al-Salam Tawila; d. 1441 AH / 2020 CE) was a contemporary Islamic scholar and author known for his research on comparative religion and jurisprudence, notably his study Wa Jaa al-Nabi al-Muntazar ("And the Awaited Prophet Has Come") .

Life and Scholarship

In the early 1970s CE, bin Tuwaila began examining Jewish and Christian scriptures and legal commentaries, including commentaries on the Talmud . In 1404 AH (1984 CE), noting persistent questions raised by students at the Islamic University of Madinah regarding scriptural prophecies of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, alongside Christian missionary efforts in Asia and Africa, he compiled and revised his notes on biblical heralds . He finalized the preface to his resulting monograph, Wa Jaa al-Nabi al-Muntazar, in Medina on 25 Dhu al-Qiʿdah 1404 AH, explaining that while the prophethood of Muhammad ﷺ did not depend on external validation, examining such texts served to refute polemics and strengthen the faith of believers . In the field of legal theory and language, he also authored Athar al-Lughah fi Ikhtilaf al-Mujtahidin ("The Impact of Language on the Disagreements of Jurists") . Bin Tuwaila died in 1441 AH.
