Abd al-Rahman al-Suhaym (d. 1442 AH / 2021 CE) was a Saudi Hadith researcher and preacher based in Riyadh who served in the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Da'wah, and Guidance.
Early Life and Education
Abd al-Rahman ibn Abd Allah al-Suhaym, also known by the kunya Abu Ya'qub after his eldest son, was born in the village of al-Basr, near the city of Buraydah in the al-Qasim region. He completed his primary and intermediate schooling in his village before attending secondary school in Buraydah. Towards the end of his secondary education, he developed a strong interest in Hadith sciences and began acquiring and reading the works of Muhammad Nasir al-Din al-Albani, whose methodology profoundly influenced his intellectual path.
Al-Suhaym pursued higher education in Riyadh at Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, graduating from the Department of Sunnah and Its Sciences within the Faculty of Usul al-Din. During his academic training, he studied under several prominent scholars, including Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen and Nasir al-Aql, attending the latter's commentary on al-Lalaka'i's Sharh usul i'tiqad Ahl al-Sunnah (Explanation of the Foundations of the Creed of the People of the Sunnah), readings from the fatwas of Ibn Taymiyyah, and lessons on heterodox sects and innovations. In addition, Abd al-Karim al-Khudayr supervised one of his university research projects.
Career and Scholarly Activity
Al-Suhaym worked as an Islamic preacher (da'iyah) under the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Da'wah, and Guidance in Riyadh. In this role, he delivered regular lectures, lessons, and Friday sermons, and undertook preaching tours both within Saudi Arabia and abroad. He was also an active contributor to several online Islamic educational forums, such as Sayd al-Fawa'id and Shabakat al-Mishkat, where he published lessons and answered legal and theological queries. His written scholarship focused primarily on Hadith studies, producing specialized research treatises such as al-Mudraj fi al-hadith (Interpolation in Hadith) alongside critical examinations of prophetic traditions compiled in al-Haythami's Majma' al-zawa'id and al-Nawawi's al-Majmu'.

List of Works
This academic study examines the exegetical methods of al-Qurtubi in reconciling apparently conflicting Quranic verses in his commentary al-Jami' li-Ahkam al-Qur'an. Originally prepared as a Master's thesis, the work analyzes how al-Qurtubi resolved perceived textual inconsistencies across more than one hundred instances, exploring mechanisms such as abrogation, generality and specificity, syntactic transposition, linguistic principles, prophetic traditions, and early scholarly consensus.
