Abd al-Rahman al-Muzayni is a Saudi researcher and librarian who served as the director of the King Abdulaziz Library in Medina.

Career and Research

Al-Muzayni directed the King Abdulaziz Library in Medina, which houses several historical endowed collections, including the manuscript repository originally endowed by Arif Hikmat. In 1420 AH (1999 CE), he published Maktabat al-Malik Abd al-Aziz bayna al-Madi wa-l-Hadir (King Abdulaziz Library Between Past and Present), documenting the history, establishment, and holdings of the library.

In Quranic manuscript studies, he authored al-Masahif al-Makhtuta fi al-Qarn al-Hadi Ashar al-Hijri (Manuscript Qurans in the Eleventh Century AH). The work employs bibliometric, analytical, and descriptive methods to investigate 70 Quranic manuscripts preserved in the Holy Quran Library within the King Abdulaziz Library that were copied or endowed between 1001 and 1100 AH. His study analyzes the physical formats, calligraphy styles (such as Naskh, Maghrebi, Ruqʿah, Thuluth, and Kufic), dimensions, illumination, binding, and endowment records associated with those manuscripts.
